Pretty much every other song on the radio makes me think of you or Wesleyan. Strangely enough there is a radio station here that really likes playing MGMT. Also there is great station ("music you can move to") that plays California Love all the time.
Yesterday at the gym, for the first time since I've been in AZ, I heard the award winner "Put your lips on my mouth". This cross-country transfer of music makes no sense to me. Isn't most the music recorded in the LA area? Why does it always show up on the East Coast, and way before it gets to the West Coast? Kiss Me Through the Phone was blowing up here in just a few weeks ago, and I remember being sick of that song in March.
One of life's many mysteries...

I don't know if it's fair to lump the great metropolis of Chandler AZ in with "the west coast." I know I may be prematurely hatin', but it would seem that the music might just be getting bogged down in the rush of movement from LA to NYC with no stopovers (not to be confused with popovers) in the PHX area. Put your lips on my mouth is getting relatively few plays around here, could it be a bit too obvious? Not sure. Really, I don't think I should count this as a loss.
ReplyDeleteCan I just say that "kiss me through the phone" might be one of the top 10 most overplayed songs of my highschool and college age existence. It's BEYOND being so bad its good--it's just back to bad, again.
I must say I am very impressed with the MGMT awareness out there. For NYC's part, I saw several posters advertising MGMT on the roster for an upcoming COLDPLAY concert. Dude what are those coldplay guys even playing these days? I used to be much more in tune with that sort of thing. Now I only think about the fact that Gwenneth Paltrow is married to the lead singer. Coldplay had a hit single Clocks, the couple has a daughter named Apple. Apple and Clockwork Oranges?
Oh no, make me stop.
Ummm I listened to some hip hop on the interwebs tonight via a certain chi-town blogger's site. Nothing too awesome, kanye rihanna and jay z on a track that was OK without much dance possibility, also a lupe single with a collaborator that was pretty quiet and not too dance inspiring either. show me the summer jams...where are they? can't someone write a companion piece to "boots with the fur" or SOMETHING? no actually, please don't. I think I've been missing our pandora radio stations, I'll get all over that tomorrow. OH and watch out cuz I'll be getting some blogposts down too!
The people, in addition to wanting tree hugger photos, clearly want the second installment of my take on our Oh My Cod! trip.
P S HOW COULD WE LEAVE THAT SIGN IN MASSACHUSETTS?
